The development of the NSX started with a prototype called the Honda Pininfarina eXperimental, abbreviated as the HP-X. It was a wild design for the day, and completely futuristic. The car featured no doors; entry was made by lifting the roof of the car. Fantastical though it was, the concept did inspire development of the New Sportscar eXperimental or NSX production vehicle, that is so loved by enthusiasts and collectors today.

The NSX is a mid-engine, rear wheel drive, two-seater sports car that was developed to compete with other supercars of the day from the likes of Ferrari and Porsche. Released in 1990, it featured a transversely mounted all-aluminium 3.0-litre engine that could be paired with a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic. The naturally aspirated was equipped with Honda’s renowned Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control technology, or VTEC as its commonly known, and was capable of producing a claimed 270 horsepower and a top speed of 168 mph.

This NSX was first registered on 18 June 1991 in Switzerland. It was purchased by the current owner on 21 February 2018 and registered with a Swiss title on 28 March 2018. It is fitted with the desirable five-speed manual transmission.

Finished in Formula Red with an Onyx leather interior, with the factory 16-inch wheels and Honda Bose radio with cassette player still in place, this NSX appears to be just as magnificent now as it was when delivered new in 1991. The odometer shows just over 40,500 kilometers at time of cataloguing, which is believed to be original.

Accompanying the car is the factory space-saver wheel, various documentation including a former Swiss title, and invoices for servicing from Honda dealers and independent workshops.
