  • ‘The Green Jewel’, one of just five Ferraris built in this livery and the only F12 Berlinetta
  • Only 276 miles from new
  • Arguably the most desirable of the 70th anniversary liveries

The replacement for Ferrari’s 599 GTB Fiorano, the F12 Berlinetta took centre stage as Ferrari’s new flagship twelve-cylinder at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Truly a descendant of the great grand touring berlinettas of the 1950s and 1960s, the F12 Berlinetta boasts not only remarkable looks, but equally remarkable performance. Its 6,262-cc V-12 produced a monumental 730 bhp, leading a 0–60 mph time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of over 211 mph. This brutal performance was no doubt assisted by Ferrari’s attention to detail to keep weight to a minimum (1,525 kg). Its use of unique aerodynamic solutions included the unique Aero Bridge, which created downforce using the bonnet to channel air to both sides of the car just aft of the front wheel, as well as the car’s active brake cooling system, which channels air towards the brakes through the nose when cooling is needed most.

Instantly adored by the automotive press and clients alike, the F12 quickly accrued a number of awards, including Engine of the Year from Evo in 2012, Supercar of the Year from GQ in 2013, and Car of the Year from Robb Report in 2014, amongst numerous other accolades throughout its production run. As such, the car would make the perfect canvas for Ferrari to apply its unique liveries to celebrate the company’s 70th anniversary in 2017. Seventy distinct liveries were created to celebrate 70 specific cars and models from Ferrari’s past, all bearing individual paint schemes, interior colours, and exclusive features. Each livery would be featured on only one of each of Ferrari’s five production models at the time: the 488 GTB, 488 Spider, California T, GTC/4 Lusso, and the F12 Berlinetta.

The first Ferrari shown to unveil this unique series of cars was a 488 Spider shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2016. Dubbed the ‘Green Jewel’, this specific livery took its inspiration from David Piper’s 365 P2. Only six 365 P2s were built, and Piper’s car, finished in his iconic green paintwork (the result of a period sponsorship with BP), is arguably the most famous of the batch. With that car, Piper won the Kyalami 9 Hours in both 1965 and 1966. With 70 liveries for Ferrari to choose from at their unveiling, the ‘Green Jewel’ was a natural fit as it was such an unusual and striking livery for a Ferrari, one that would be sure to leave a positive impression on potential customers, the motoring press, and fans alike.

Of the five Ferraris to bear ‘The Green Jewel’ livery, only two were delivered to the UK in RHD specification; the California T and the F12 Berlinetta presented here. In addition to its brilliant metallic green paintwork, roundels and racing numbers, and airbrushed Scuderia shields and gold wheels, the car also boasted a number of distinct features inside. These include two-tone Nero and Rosso interior, trimmed in Siam furniture leather, an elegant leather with richer and finer grain emphasizing the driver zone of the car like it was in the original. The carpets are trimmed in Apollo Bright L4, a highly wear-resistant technical fabric and the contrasting aluminium and carbon fibre trim rounds out the interior beautifully.

Arguably the most celebrated of the 70 liveries, ‘The Green Jewel’ showcases the amazing abilities and creativity of Ferrari’s Tailor Made department while simultaneously celebrating Ferrari’s history. Offered in virtually as-new condition with just 276 miles on its odometer, this represents an amazing opportunity to acquire what is without doubt one of the most desirable F12 Berlinettas ever built.
