Ford was not merely capitalizing on nostalgia when it channeled its Le Mans-dominating GT40 race cars to create the mid-engined GT in 2004. With its supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission, the GT was a formidable sports car of its own. Its superplastic-formed frame was mated to extensive aluminum exterior and carbon fiber interior panels to save weight. As a result, the GT could vault to 60 mph in just over three seconds before topping out at a breathtaking 205 mph. Demand was strong when released, and the GT has remained an appreciating classic today. In all, 4,038 were built at the company’s Wixom, Michigan, assembly plant.

This stunning 2006 Ford GT on offer without reserve is from the final year of production and is presented in Mark II Black with Silver Le Mans stripes. It was delivered new to Future Ford in Sacramento, California, and stayed with its first owner at the base of the Sierras for nearly nine years. During that time, it was sparingly driven. Its second owner acquired it in early 2017 and continued to preserve the car in excellent condition. The third owner purchased the car in early 2018 where it became part of a private collection. Sparingly driven since new, the car remains in gorgeous condition throughout, having covered less than 600 miles from new.

The GT includes its original window sticker, which confirms that it was ordered with every available option-McIntosh radio, BBS alloy wheels, Le Mans stripes, and grey-painted brake calipers. The car is accompanied by its original manuals, Ford GT bag, front mount license plate bracket, and air compressor with original tow hook.

Among the last of the analog supercars, the Ford GT features a manual transmission and very little in the way of driver aides. The 2005 and 2006 examples have remained highly sought after, commanding more than original sticker price since their debut. This four-option example, one of only 292 produced in Mark II Black for 2006, remains in perfect condition and would make an excellent addition to any collection.
