Please note that this lot is titled as a 1961.

The Porsche 356 B, produced from 1960 through 1963, represents the mid-point in the 356’s model history. In what is known as “T5” form, the B introduced new front and rear sheet-metal, while retaining the curved front trunk lid and rounded fenders of the A series. The B also added some features requested by American customers, such as raised front and rear bumpers with over-riders to better protect the body from parking incidents. The headlamps were raised, a larger hood handle added, and front vent windows appeared in the doors. A new steering wheel and column similarly refreshed the interior, along with redesigned rear seats.

The 356 B also reflected Porsche’s continuing effort to improve the line’s mechanical components, with stronger engine internals, transaxle, shifting linkage, and better Alfin brakes. The “Super” model with raised compression added an extra 15 brake horsepower to the standard version’s 1.6-liter, air-cooled, flat, four-cylinder engine.

This remarkable, Heron Grey 356 B 1600 Super Coupe from the 1960 model year, equipped with a factory sunroof, is particularly compelling on account of its already rare and desirable specifications being greatly improved by the presence of 16 additional factory options noted on its Kardex. Delivered new to the famous Jacksonville, Florida dealership of Brumos Porsche on 7 October 1960, chassis 113267 was fitted with headrests, armrest, chrome perforated wheels, fog lamps, exterior mirror, electric clock, dimmable interior mirror, decorative trim, Blaupunkt Cologne radio, aerial, chrome-plated luggage rack, Coco mats, dual loudspeakers, and Continental tires. A Brumos maintenance record featured on the Kardex notes that the car had completed nearly 5,000 miles together by February of 1961.

At some point during its ensuing decades of Florida residency, the car was refinished in metallic silver over ivory upholstery. It was found in Miami by its previous owner sometime around 2011 wearing that color scheme and promptly submitted for a complete restoration to original specifications. Importantly, this 356 B retains its numbers-matching “Super” engine and four-speed transaxle. By late 2013, the car emerged from restoration with its original color combination and all 16 factory-specified options intact. Under the consignor’s ownership, this fascinating 356 B has been proudly displayed as part of a collection in a climate-controlled facility, seeing intermittent use and regular maintenance by an on-site technician. Within the last 50 miles, it has received fresh fluids and necessary servicing in preparation for sale.

Very nicely presented throughout, this 356 B Super Sunroof Coupe is unquestionably one of the most highly optioned examples of the model we have had the pleasure to offer.
