In its seventh generation, the 991-generation Porsche 911 distilled over five decades of the storied Stuttgart marque’s learnings into a svelte and capable package. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011, the 991 utilised an entirely new platform—it was only the third generation of 911 to do so since the model’s introduction in 1963. The new 911 was widely acknowledged as a significant step forward from its predecessors, despite its increase in mass and size, and by 2013 sales were strong. Early in 2013, the Turbo and Turbo S Cabriolet models were introduced, adding the pace to match the 991’s impressive chassis.
The Turbo S fastened two turbochargers to an already potent 3.8-litre powertrain, pushing power up to 552 brake horsepower, and torque to a mammoth 516 lb-ft. This was capable of propelling the sleek drop-top to 62 mph in three seconds flat—a figure which eclipsed its contemporary rival, the Ferrari 458 Spider—and it would continue accelerating up to a top speed of 198 mph.
This UK-delivered 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is built to 2014 model year specification and is finished in the iconic hue of Guards Red with yellow brake callipers, a contrasting Black roof, and an extended Black leather-trimmed interior with a carbon-fibre centre console. Desirable options include Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), DAB radio, Sport Chrono Package, Bose surround sound, a SportDesign steering wheel, extended leather, Porsche seat crests, 14-way adjustable heated Sports seats with memory, LED Headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus), and front and rear ParkAssist.
Purchased in May 2015 by The Bryan Richmond-Dodd Collection through Knowl Hill Performance & Luxury, this example has been maintained regularly by Porsche Centre Reading; the most recent being in October 2021 at 16,277 miles and including a routine service and a replacement battery. During its custodianship the nearside door and mirror were replaced to correct light cosmetic damage, but it has otherwise been used sparingly and thoroughly enjoyed over nine years of ownership. This Turbo S has covered a modest 16,796 miles at the time of cataloguing.
