- Attractive older restoration aging gracefully
- Impressive list of features enhancing its presentation
- Handsomely finished in black and maroon with a matching black interior and top
The aptly named Studebaker Model EK Big Six boasts an expansive, 126-inch-wheelbase chassis and a genuinely large, potent 353.8-cubic-inch L-head inline six-cylinder engine delivering 60 horsepower to the rear axle through a selective, sliding three-speed transmission. While some features such as solid wood artillery wheels rang back to the Brass Era, the EK presents as quite a modern automobile overall, with handsome, crisp styling that for 1922 included a single-piece windshield fitted with dual spotlights, redesigned headlights, and a courtesy light on the left-hand side. Several body styles were available, the grandest of them being the Seven-Passenger Touring, an example of which is offered here.
Sporting a dignified and attractive older restoration in black and maroon, this relatively uncommon Model EK Big Six is fitted with numerous appealing features that augment its inherent appeal, including nickel-plated headlamps, a Lorraine driving light, Studebaker radiator temperature gauge, rear-mounted spares, cowl lights, and wind wings. In addition, a set of window curtains help keep the weather at bay, while a 1922 Missouri plate adds a period touch to the exterior.
The wooden dashboard carries a Van Sicklen speedometer, a Studebaker clock, ampere meter, and a National Gauge oil meter. Understood to have been restored in Warren, Ohio sometime around the new millennium, this imposing Studebaker was brought into Sonny Schwartz’s Suzy Q Collection in 2013.
