Presented here, is a rare one-off scratch built 1:5-scale 1953 Ferrari Arno XI Racing Hydroplane as raced by Castoldi and Nando Dell’Orto. One of the most attractive speedboats ever made. Its 1953 Flash Gordon design still looks stunning today. It’s not only a masterpiece of style and guile, but was also a powerful machine as well.
This example is made from solid mahogany and teak and has the beginnings of a radio-controlled engine set up complete with water cooled power unit. Note the faux leather bucket seat with steel cover over the drive shaft and steel fascia with the oversized steering wheel. The upper body has twin hinged opening engine bay doors and is removable for access to the hold. This example comes with authentic steel work to the hull trim, rudder, cockpit interior and exhaust system.
A magnificent model whether set to the lakes or displayed in the study, this example is approximately four feet in length, and sits on a wooden stand.
