  • One of just 46 examples built from 2001–2002
  • Arguably the most desirable variant of the Continental R
  • Displayed 8,559 miles at time of cataloguing
  • Finished in the appropriate shade of Le Mans Racing Green

Bentley made a triumphant return to Le Mans in 2001 with its EXP Speed 8 sports prototype, returning the legendary marque to the Circuit de la Sarthe for the first time in 71 years. Finishing a very impressive 3rd overall, Bentley had greater aspirations and was able to secure an overall win at Le Mans two years later. That victory in 2003 would be the marque’s sixth, placing Bentley fifth in overall wins at motor racing’s most grueling endurance event.

The Continental R Le Mans Series was launched to celebrate Bentley’s return to Le Mans. These cars are easily recognizable by their “Le Mans Series” badging on the front three-quarter panels, quad tailpipes, wider wheel arches, and five-spoke wheels with red brake calipers. Inside, each car was outfitted with straight-grain walnut trim, two-tone upholstery with winged “B” motifs, drilled pedals, unique treadplate plaques, and unique instruments finished in dark green.

This stunning example presents beautifully throughout. Buyers could choose from three different colors: Silver Storm, Black Oriole, and the sporty shade seen here, Le Mans Racing Green. Coupled with a two-tone green and beige interior wonderfully accented with walnut trim, it exudes British sophistication. Within the realm of the 46 Continental R Le Mans Series built from 2001 to 2002, this example is one of just 15 left-hand-drive cars produced in the first year of production and is the fifth Le Mans Series built by VIN number.

A US-delivery example, this car was imported to the states on Independence Day, 4 July 2001. It was first registered in Florida in April 2002, according to the accompanying CARFAX report, and it remained there until 2004, later moving to ownership in the Northeast. Today it shows 8,559 miles from new at time of cataloguing and is accompanied by a pair of Bentley umbrellas and lambswool rugs.

Arguably the most desirable variant of the Continental R and one of just 46 examples built from 2001–2002, this Le Mans is sure to draw the attention of every decerning Bentley enthusiast.
