Part of Ford Motor Company’s centennial celebrations was the unveiling of the GT, a modern homage to the highly celebrated GT40 that won Le Mans an impressive four consecutive years from 1966 to 1969. A very close evocation of the original’s styling around a fully modern, magnificently engineered supercar platform, the GT went into production for the 2005 and 2006 model years, and rapidly became one of the most sought-after performance automobiles in the world.

And it was for good reason. The GT was powered by a 5.4-litrt DOHC V-8 with a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger, good for 550 brake horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, delivered through a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission featuring a helical limited-slip differential. This driveline allowed the GT to achieve 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph, extraordinary figures that put this Ford into competition with such elite supercars of the time as the Porsche Carrera GT and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.

In the final model year, 2006, Ford introduced a limited-production Heritage edition of the GT, inspired by the double Le Mans-winning GT40 of 1968 and 1969, famously sponsored by Gulf Oil and finished in the sponsor’s iconic colors. The Heritage GT came in the aptly named Heritage Blue with Epic Orange stripes and four white roundels, to which the owner could add a number of their liking.

Angus Mitchell’s Heritage GT, offered here, was acquired for the collection in early 2019, and is equipped with the optional BBS forged aluminum wheels and McIntosh digital stereo. It remains in utterly pristine condition, with 548 actual miles recorded at the time of cataloguing. Complete with a bottle of iconic Paul Mitchell shampoo—part of the heritage that afforded its owner such wonderful cars—it is an exemplary GT, from one wonderful home to another.
