  • Among the first BMWs ever produced; a development of the endearing Dixi model
  • Powered by a 782-cc straight-four petrol engine mated to a four-speed gearbox
  • Presents in black with matching black wheels over a grey cloth interior
  • Benefits from an older restoration, thought to have been completed in the early 1990s
  • Acquired by The Munich Masterpieces Collection in 1996

Soon after a licensing agreement with the British marque came to an end, BMW replaced its Austin 7-derived Dixi model with the wonderfully endearing “Auto München” series , which gained a wider body and improved brakes. The later 3/20 AM 4 Saloon offered here, so called because of its four-speed gearbox paired to a 782-cc four-cylinder engine, was first registered on 1 July 1933.

Thereafter, little is known about the car’s history until 1990, when chassis 36411 was acquired by a German architect. They commissioned a restoration, and the work duly caught the eye of the consigning owner, who purchased this example in December 1996. Swiftly imported to Finland to join up with the rest of the The Munich Masterpieces Collection, this AM 4 now presents very neatly in black over a grey cloth interior.

Among the first homegrown BMWs ever made, this AM 4 Saloon would make for an utterly charming addition to any car collection.
