Jake O'Gorman's passion for collector cars developed at a very young age from a curiosity for taking things apart and figuring out how to put them back together again. This eventually landed him a high school internship at Harry Sherry's restoration shop in Warsaw, Ontario, which specializes in Marmon Sixteens, opening Jake's eyes to the Classic Era of automobiles. Jake pursued his interest in mechanics at the renowned McPherson College in Kansas, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Automotive Restoration Technology in 2016. Upon graduation, Jake received the Jay Leno/Autoweek Award for dedication to excellence in automotive restoration, which also landed him an internship at Duesenberg historian Randy Ema's shop in Orange, California.
Though Jake joined RM Sotheby's as a Car Specialist in 2017, he is no stranger to the RM team or clientele. Jake has interned in various RM departments from Marketing to Research since 2013, while also assisting with logistics and mechanics at auction events around the world. A member of numerous car clubs, Jake's area of expertise lies in Veteran and early Brass Era motor cars, with a particular affinity for Packard, Oldsmobile Limited, Thomas Flyer, and Mercer. Jake's extensive restoration background allows him to advise clients on both the mechanical and physical condition of vehicles, as well as their authenticity.
