Iseli Collection

The Iseli Collection is a remarkable single-owner collection comprising 93 individual lots. It is a truly eclectic selection of two- and four-wheeled machinery from no less than 18 different manufacturers, from Alfa Romeo to Volkswagen, from road cars to racecars, and from motorcycles to tractors. Offered entirely without reserve, The Iseli Collection offers something for every enthusiast. It is notable for encompassing a true depth of quality with many rare models on offer.

Stand-out lots include the ex-Niki Lauda 1984 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.3-16 ‘Nürburgring’, raced by the legendary Austrian ace. The extremely rare car is one of just 21 made by Mercedes-Benz, prepared exclusively for the 1984 Nürburgring “Race of Champions”; Lauda raced this car to 2nd place in the event. Further highlights include a 1964 Porsche 356 SC, a 1970 Porsche 911 S Coupé, a 1960 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider by Touring, and a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 220 S Cabriolet. The car collection is complete with many enthusiast favourites, including a 2CV and DS 23 Pallas by Citroën, Porsche 911s of both modern and vintage stock, Volkswagens ranging in age from a Beetle to the Golf GTI, an Audi Ur-quattro, an assortment of legendary Fiat designs, and many more.

Away from the impressive grouping of cars, the significant buses and trucks on offer differentiate this collection from any other. The 1972 Mercedes-Benz L 408 Bus with Trailer headlines the set, joined by two L 319s, two L 405s, an L 406, and an L 407, all made by the Three-Pointed Star. The choice of four tractors offers a unique opportunity for collectors, while the carefully curated mix of Italian scooters will be very appealing to fans. These are made up of four Lambretta scooters and one moped, further to two Piaggio Ape scooter-derived three-wheeled vans.

A seasoned automotive collector, Daniel Iseli has been invested in his automotive obsession since childhood. First owning a Volkswagen Beetle at the age of 16, Mr Iseli worked his way through an enviable ownership history of some of the finest cars to have ever been built. The 1976 purchase of a Mercedes-Benz 190 SL marked the beginning of Mr Iseli’s journey into premium collector car proprietorship, which progressed and only eight years later culminated in the acquisition of a 300 SL ‘Gullwing’—perhaps the golden standard in classic cars.

The Iseli Collection has grown enormously in the years that have followed, with the best of the examples offered here kept in fine condition throughout the long and colourful custodianship of their passionate curator.
